when we typed in Atlantis without using advance search we got 41,900,000 hits.
When we used the advance search we got 56,800 hits.
When we searched Waterbury using the advance search we got 86,600 hits.
We noticed that the advance search engines gave us specific sites that had the information we were looking for. This narrowed our search and excluded all the unnecessary sites. We also noticed that the number of hits also decreased because we added more information which allows it to narrow it down to basically the topic we were searching for.

When we searched San Diego State University without using advance search we got 4,720,000 hits.
Using the exact word or phrases we got 1,230,000 hits.
Bill 602P- using exact words or phrases we got 6,410 hits.
Using the advance search, exact words and phrases narrow down the hit that we were receiving. We also received the exact words and phrases that we had asked for. This way of searching for topics is a very affective way of searching for a topic.

When we tried the wrong URL: http://www.longwood.k12.ny.us/wmi/wq/collin/index.html it didn’t give us any answers, so we trimmed it until we found a page that actually exists: http://www.longwood.k12.ny.us/wmi/
This taught us that even if some URLs do not exist if you trim them you will be able to find the right site.

When we went to find pages that link to the page: http://www.ssischool.org/ We got 4 hits.
When we searched for: kids.msfc.nasa.gov in the pages similar to pages we got 27 hits.
